4 Month Suspension; Yeah Right
The teacher’s strike in Poland, which started with such promise - you know your message is generating positive feedback when conservatives call you “terrorists” - has fizzled out like a dud sparkler you bought at the state line for Fourth of July.
After the parliament revoked the requirement, making it so the students didn’t actually need to take the EO Year Exams (and then be rated/ranked) before taking the Ginormous Forever-and-ever-amen exam, the teachers union didn’t make such a big stink about the Unqualified administering the EO Year Exams.
Then the days continued passing .... and everyone seemed to settle into this lackadaisical finger pointing exercise... and no progress was being made... because the parents were no longer in pain because little Janusz’s exam needs were being met even if he was actually at home playing Fortnite.... and oh well, as long as little Janusz gets to go to the good school next year...
And the long Easter holiday was coming, and the May Day holiday weekend immediately after...and spring has sprung and everyone just wants to be happy... and of course the teachers have been without pay for 3+ weeks and they’re already poor as church mice....
(Colleagues told stories of ruined Easters because of fighting between actual Teachers and Old Man FOX-News-type PiS Poles - how the teachers enjoy cushy lives on the backs on the hard working people who don’t take the whole summer off.)
So the union, in its ultimate wisdom, decided “okay, we’ll ‘suspend ‘ the strike now, and start it up again when school STARTS in September...
Ho him, anticlimactic.... and I’ll be interested to see if the government gives any room after seeing how easily the teacher’s union caved at Exam time.
